AUSTIN, Texas — A Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive accused of murder is back in U.S. custody after being captured in Mexico, authorities announced.

Elijah Turner Reyes, 25, a documented Piru (Bloods) gang member from El Paso, was arrested Feb. 19 at an apartment in Tijuana, Mexico, by Mexican authorities. He was deported to the United States and transferred to American law enforcement officials on Feb. 21.

The arrest followed investigative work by the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force in El Paso, including Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division special agents. Officials said the capture stemmed from information provided by an anonymous tipster, and a Crime Stoppers reward will be paid.

The El Paso Police Department assisted in the fugitive investigation.

Reyes had been wanted since May 2025 on a murder charge out of El Paso. Additional warrants were issued in June 2025 after he failed to appear in court on prior charges that included burglary of a habitation, possession of a controlled substance, and assault of a pregnant woman.

Court records show Reyes was previously convicted of aggravated robbery in 2019 and sentenced to five years in prison. He was released from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in January 2024.
