Authorities have arrested 17-year-old Jaydon Williams in connection with the shooting that unfolded on December 1, 2023, at 4200 Sherwood Lane in Central Northwest Houston. Williams now faces charges of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in the 337th State District Court.

The victim, identified as 15-year-old Joseph Barrios, lost his life after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds during the incident. Houston Police Officers responded to the scene at around 2:00 am, discovering Barrios unresponsive. Despite efforts by Houston Fire Department paramedics, Barrios was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another 17-year-old male, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, was transported to an area hospital in a private vehicle. He is expected to survive his injuries.

Investigations revealed that Barrios and Williams had reportedly gone to the location with the intention of committing an armed robbery involving two males, aged 15 and 17. The exchange turned deadly when the 17-year-old victim fired shots at Barrios, hitting him. Barrios, in turn, returned fire, injuring the victim. No other bystanders were harmed. Williams fled the scene on foot.

After consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, charges were officially filed against Williams on January 2. Today, on January 10, he was apprehended by the HPD Gang Division’s Crime Reduction Unit and subsequently transported to the Harris County Jail.
