Teen Killed in Beaumont Shooting; Two Suspects Identified

BEAUMONT, Texas – A 17-year-old male was fatally shot late Tuesday night during an incident at Northridge Manor Apartments, authorities said.

Beaumont Police officers responded around 11:52 p.m. on Dec. 31 to the 4100 block of Maida Road after reports of shots fired. Dispatchers advised that a vehicle involved in the shooting was leaving the scene and that a victim may have been transported to a hospital in the backseat.

Officers arriving on scene established a large crime scene spanning two apartments. A short time later, officers located the vehicle in the area of Calder Avenue and North 11th Street after it collided with two patrol vehicles. The 17-year-old victim was found deceased in the backseat, and the vehicle was being driven by a relative.

Detectives, with patrol support, identified two suspects: a Black male juvenile and 19-year-old Beaumont resident Leon Goodman III. Arrest warrants were subsequently obtained for both individuals.
