Teen Killed, Another Injured in Odessa Crash Involving Stolen Vehicle

Odessa Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred early this morning at the intersection of 42nd Street and N.W. County Road around 2:05 a.m.

A 2018 red Ford F150, driven by 19-year-old Jonah Hurton of Odessa, was traveling eastbound on 42nd Street when it collided with a 2011 Kia Sorrento traveling northbound on N.W. County Road. The crash resulted in the death of a 15-year-old male who was driving the Kia. A 13-year-old male passenger was transported to Medical Center Hospital with serious injuries.

Hurton was arrested at the scene for driving while intoxicated and taken to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. Authorities have indicated that additional charges are likely.

The Kia Sorrento involved in the crash had been reported stolen prior to the incident. Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
