Teen Girl Critically Injured in Damon Shooting; Juvenile Suspect in Custody

DAMON, TX – An 18-year-old female is in critical condition following a shooting Monday morning at a residence in Damon, according to the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 11:23 a.m. on January 5, 2026, deputies were contacted by a concerned family member who reported the teen was being threatened in the Damon area. Deputies responded to a home in the 3800 block of Live Oak Drive in an effort to locate her.

While deputies were inside the residence conducting their search, they heard a gunshot coming from within the home. Deputies immediately moved toward the sound and located the female victim and a Hispanic male inside the residence.

The female was found suffering from at least one suspected gunshot wound. She was transported by Life Flight to a Houston-area hospital, where she remains listed in critical condition.

The male was detained at the scene without further incident and identified as 17-year-old Giovani Gabriel Ayala Villaloboz of Damon. He remains in custody and is expected to face criminal charges.

Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office investigators and forensic personnel continue to process the scene as the investigation remains active. No additional information has been released at this time.
