Teen Driver Arrested for DWI Rear-Ending Deputy on Sam Houston Parkway

A 17-year-old driver was arrested on multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated and drug possession, after rear-ending a Harris County Constable Precinct 8 patrol vehicle on Wednesday, May 15, 2025.
Deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to the 11100 block of the S Sam Houston Parkway East to provide assistance following the collision. Upon arrival, the at-fault driver was identified as Jael Santiago, who allegedly displayed several signs of intoxication.
Deputies conducted Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which indicated that Santiago was indeed intoxicated. Further investigation revealed that Santiago was in possession of 22.7 grams of Xanax and 6.27 ounces of marijuana. Authorities also discovered that Santiago was currently out on bond for previous charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.
Santiago was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Possession of Controlled Substance. His bond was set at $5,100.00 out of County Court 4.
