Teen Dead in Shooting Near Cypress Lakes High School

A male, believed to be between 16 to 19 years old, was fatally shot in the 5800 block of Brenwood Trails Lane around 10:30 a.m. The shooting occurred at the end of Brenwood Trails Lane behind Cypress Lakes High School, although not on school grounds.

It remains uncertain if the victim had any affiliation with the school.

The investigation is in its early stages, and Sheriff Ed Gonzalez reported that a group was observed gathering at the location prior to the shooting.

Multiple gunshots were fired, leading to the death of the teenager.

The sheriff’s office has detained several witnesses, and authorities are seeking information from individuals who were in a dark-colored vehicle seen speeding away after the incident.

Following the shooting, Cypress Lakes High School, McFee Elementary School, and Emery Elementary School were briefly placed in “secure the building mode” by Cy-Fair ISD, but the restrictions have since been lifted.

The investigation into this distressing event is ongoing.
