Teen Arrested in Series of Scooter-Linked Aggravated Robberies in North Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Detectives with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 17-year-old suspect January 8th in connection with multiple aggravated robberies in the W FM 1960 and Kuykendahl Road area, authorities said.

The arrest followed a targeted surveillance operation by the sheriff’s office Violent Crimes Unit focused on Jalan Conway, who investigators said was responsible for a string of robberies carried out over several weeks. Detectives said the suspect used an electric scooter to move through the area, approached victims on foot, and pointed a handgun at their faces while demanding personal property.

At about 7 p.m., detectives observed a male wearing all black clothing and a ski mask riding an electric scooter into an apartment complex in the 1900 block of Sugar Pine Circle. About 10 minutes later, the suspect exited the complex, traveled south toward Kuykendahl Road, and entered a nearby convenience store.

While detectives maintained visual surveillance, they were notified of an aggravated robbery involving a suspect matching the same description. After leaving the store, the suspect traveled north on Kuykendahl Road toward W FM 1960, and detectives relayed his location to marked patrol units.

Deputies took Conway into custody without incident after he attempted to evade officers on the scooter, authorities said. Investigators recovered the handgun used in the robbery and the victim’s wallet at the time of the arrest.

Conway was booked into the Harris County Jail on two counts of aggravated robbery. Additional charges are pending. The investigation remains ongoing, and detectives believe there may be additional victims.

Anyone with information related to the robberies is asked to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit at 713-274-9365 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
