Teen Arrested in Mother’s Shooting Death in Galveston

GALVESTON, Texas—A 16-year-old girl has been taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting of her mother in Galveston.
On September 11, police responded to a home in the 5100 block of Avenue Q after receiving a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found Tiamoya Moore, 34, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to the UTMB emergency room, where she was later pronounced dead. A firearm was recovered at the scene.
Witnesses at the residence told officers that the shooter might be the victim’s 16-year-old daughter, who was not present when police arrived. As investigators were processing the scene, the teen returned to the home and was taken into custody without incident.
The juvenile is currently being held at the Jerry J. Esmond Juvenile Justice Center. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
