Teen Arrested for Sunday Homicide at Apartment Complex in Humble

HUMBLE, TX – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a teenager in connection with a homicide that occurred Sunday evening in the parking lot of the Sierra at Fall Creek apartments in Humble, TX.

On Sunday, August 3, at approximately 7:15 p.m., deputies and EMS responded to reports of a weapons disturbance and gunshots at 14951 Bellows Falls Lane. They found a man in the front seat of a black SUV with at least one gunshot wound to his upper torso/head area. Despite life-saving measures, the victim, later identified as Joel Lovell, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Witnesses and security video from the apartment complex indicated that a black SUV was involved and that two Black males fled the scene. Through their investigation, Homicide Detectives were able to identify one of the suspects as 18-year-old Terron Chatman.

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 5, Chatman was taken into custody and booked into the Harris County Jail on Capital Murder charges.

Detectives are still working to identify the second suspect and are asking anyone with information to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit at 713-274-9100 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477). The victim’s body was sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to confirm the cause and manner of death.
