Teen Arrested for Fatal Shooting Over Alleged Debt in West Harris County

A 19-year-old has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred late on the night of May 31, 2025, in West Harris County.

Around 11:15 p.m., deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to a commercial center in the 4200 block of SH-6 North, where a vehicle had stopped after an earlier shooting incident. Inside the vehicle, deputies found two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

Juan Acosta, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene. A second male, approximately 31 years old, was transported to a hospital and survived. A third occupant of the vehicle was uninjured.

After a subsequent investigation, members of the HCSO Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) arrested 19-year-old Anthony Lopez on Monday, June 9. He has been charged with Murder and is currently booked in the Harris County Jail.

According to investigators, the motive for the shooting was related to an alleged debt Acosta owed to Lopez.
