Teacher Arrested After False Stabbing Alarm Triggers Lockdown at Splendora High School

SPLENDORA, Texas — A teacher has been arrested after authorities determined a reported incident that prompted a large law enforcement response and lockdown at Splendora High School was a hoax, officials said.
The incident began around 8:45 a.m. Thursday, April 9, 2026, when the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a panic alarm activated by a teacher. Three school resource officers already on campus immediately placed the school on lockdown as deputies and multiple surrounding agencies responded. Approximately 100 law enforcement personnel arrived to secure the campus and ensure the safety of students and staff.
Investigators with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division arrived within 30 minutes and began reviewing surveillance footage, interviewing witnesses, and collecting evidence. Authorities said the investigation revealed no assault on a teacher had occurred.
Detectives determined the reported injury was self-inflicted and that the incident was staged. The teacher, identified as 53-year-old Nicole Truelove, has been charged with felony tampering with evidence and false report or false alarm. She was transported to the Montgomery County Jail.
Officials said Truelove has been employed with Splendora ISD for approximately one year.
Authorities emphasized the situation was isolated and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said school threats are taken seriously and that adults will be held accountable in the same manner as students. Officials also thanked assisting agencies, including Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constables, Texas Game Wardens, Splendora ISD, Splendora Police Department, New Caney ISD, Texas Department of Public Safety, Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, and the Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office.
