Suspect Takes Own Life Following Pursuit Through Houston After Bank Robbery

At approximately 4:51 p.m. on August 13, 2024, League City Police Department (LCPD) officers overheard radio traffic from the Dickinson Police Department regarding a bank robbery near Gulf Freeway and FM 517 in Dickinson, TX. The suspect, armed with a handgun, was reported to have fled northbound in a blue Chrysler van.

LCPD officers located the Chrysler on Gulf Freeway near E Medical Center in Webster at around 5:01 p.m. Attempts to stop the van were unsuccessful as the suspect continued northbound on Interstate 45 towards Houston. LCPD and Webster police pursued the vehicle, and the Houston Police Department (HPD) joined as the pursuit moved off the highway into Houston.

The pursuit concluded at approximately 5:25 p.m. in the 4300 block of Alconbury Lane in Houston. Both LCPD and HPD officers were present at the scene, where it was reported that the suspect took his own life.
