Suspect Identified and Arrested in 2016 Homicide Case

Charges have been filed against a suspect in connection with the 2016 death of Mark Anthony Thomas, who was found deceased at 3352 Old Spanish Trail. Anthony Franklin, 51, now faces capital murder charges in the 488th State District Court for his alleged involvement in Thomas’s death.

Mark Anthony Thomas, aged 48 at the time of his death, was discovered deceased inside his vehicle located in the rear parking lot of a club situated at 3352 Old Spanish Trail in June 2016. Following an autopsy conducted by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, Thomas’s death was officially ruled as a homicide, with the cause being strangulation.

Subsequent investigative efforts led authorities to identify Anthony Franklin as a suspect in the case. On Monday, October 23, officers from the HPD Crime Reduction Unit took Franklin into custody without incident. He was subsequently booked into the Harris County Jail.
