Suspect Charged in Fatal Shooting on Ashcroft Street

A suspect has been charged in connection with a shooting that left one man dead and two others injured at 6909 Ashcroft Drive around 5:55 a.m. on Sunday, October 26.
The suspect, Mainor Omar Matamoros Nataren, 30, is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 482nd Criminal District Court. Matamoros Nataren is currently hospitalized, and a booking photo is not yet available.
The identity of the deceased 18-year-old male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. Two additional males were injured in the incident.
According to HPD Homicide Division detectives, officers initially responded to reports of two shooting victims who had been transported to an area hospital by private vehicle. After searching the area, officers did not locate additional victims at that time.
About an hour later, officers were called to the 6900 block of Ashcroft Drive, where they found an unresponsive male in the doorway of an abandoned, unlicensed after-hours club and another male on the sidewalk. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced one victim deceased and transported the other in critical condition.
Investigators determined the shooting occurred following an argument inside the establishment around 4 a.m. After the shooting, those present fled the scene, leaving the two victims behind.
Detectives later identified Matamoros Nataren, who was also hospitalized with a gunshot wound, as the suspect. After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, charges were filed for his role in the incident.
