Suspect Arrested in Houston for Beaumont Lawn-Mowing Murder

An arrest has been made in the fatal shooting of 51-year-old Brian Lewis, who was shot while mowing his lawn on June 21, 2025. Larry Fitzgerald Williams, 54, was taken into custody in Houston on Monday, June 23rd, after being identified as the suspect.

Beaumont Police responded to the 1900 block of Delaware Street at approximately 1:44 PM on Saturday. Preliminary investigation revealed that Lewis was shot by an unknown, heavyset Black male reportedly wearing a dark-colored helmet, light-colored pants, and blue gloves. The suspect fled westbound on Delaware Street on a motorcycle. Lewis was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS.

Detectives’ investigation led to the identification of Larry Fitzgerald Williams as the suspect, and an arrest warrant was issued. Williams was apprehended in Houston by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Division, working in conjunction with Houston PD’s Crime Scene Unit and U.S. Marshals.

Authorities do not believe this was a random act of violence. Motive: Preliminary investigation indicates that Williams targeted the victim, who was cooperating in a criminal case against him. The investigation remains ongoing.
