Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting on Calumet Street

A suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred at 2528 Calumet Street around 12:30 a.m. on July 30.

Omar Marzouk, 38, is charged with murder in the 182nd State District Court.

The victim has been identified as Jimmy Arevalo, 32.

According to investigators, the victim was power washing outside a business when the suspect confronted him. An altercation occurred and the victim was shot. The suspect fled in a gray Toyota Tundra.

Police identified Marzouk as the suspect and charged him after consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. He was arrested on July 31 by the Southwest Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team and booked into the Harris County Jail.
