Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Houston Man Found at Greater Greenspoint Area

A suspect charged in the fatal shooting of 34-year-old Anthony Garrett at 1050 West Rankin Road in the Greater Greenspoint area on Monday, November 18, 2024, is now in custody. Elijah D. Johnson, 32, has been charged with murder in connection with the incident that occurred around 12:20 p.m.

Houston Police officers responded to a report of a shooting in a strip center parking lot and discovered Garrett suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics transported Garrett to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Through investigation and witness statements, authorities identified Johnson as the suspect. Following consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, a murder charge was filed against him. Johnson was arrested on Tuesday, November 19, and booked into the Harris County Jail without incident.
