Suspect Arrested in Fatal Crash on South Sam Houston Parkway

A suspect has been arrested and charged in a fatal crash that occurred at 12000 South Sam Houston Parkway West around 3 a.m. on July 26.

James Tzu-Chi Yen, 30, is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 182nd State District Court.

The identity of the deceased female is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

According to investigators, a Ford Focus was stopped at a red light when it was struck from behind by a black Volkswagen ID4. The impact caused the Ford to hit a traffic light pole and catch fire.

The driver of the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Police said Yen, the driver of the Volkswagen, was determined to be impaired. He was arrested and charged.
