Suspect Arrested for Capital Murder in Fatal 2023 Shooting and Robbery at Houston Apartment

HOUSTON, Texas – Houston Police have arrested and charged a 20-year-old man in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman during a robbery and home invasion in October 2023.

The suspect, William H. Jackson, 20, is charged with capital murder in the 174th Criminal District Court.

The victim was identified as Hope Renee Saenz, 26.

Details of the Incident

The incident occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m. on October 22, 2023, at The Timber Ridge Apartments, located in the Northshore area at 12200 Fleming Drive.

  • Discovery: HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting/home invasion call and found Ms. Saenz unresponsive inside her apartment, suffering from a gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced her deceased at the scene.
  • Witness Account: A witness stated that two unknown black male suspects entered the apartment and began shooting. Ms. Saenz was struck. Two children were also inside the apartment at the time of the shooting but were not injured.
  • Investigation: Further investigation determined the shooting was the result of a robbery, and Jackson was subsequently identified as a suspect.

Jackson was arrested and charged on Tuesday, November 18, for his role in the case.
