Suspect Arrested After Armed Robbery and Multi-County Pursuit Ends in Houston Crash

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect following a high-speed pursuit that began after a robbery at the Louis Vuitton store in The Woodlands on Friday afternoon.

Around 4:15 p.m. on August 30, an off-duty Harris County Deputy witnessed the robbery and alerted dispatchers, providing details of the suspect’s getaway vehicle: a white Ford F-150 with Home Depot markings. Investigators determined that a firearm may have been involved in the crime.

Deputies located the truck on the I-45 service road near Sawdust Road and attempted a traffic stop. The driver refused to stop, sparking a chase that stretched onto the Hardy Toll Road. During the pursuit, the suspect struck two vehicles near I-610 before ultimately running a red light at the North Freeway and Yale Street, crashing into two passenger vehicles and a METRO bus.

Houston Fire Department crews treated multiple victims at the scene and transported them to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect—identified as 24-year-old Jontravous Jones of Atlanta, Georgia—fled on foot but was quickly taken into custody by deputies.

Jones was treated for minor injuries before being booked into the Montgomery County Jail on charges of Robbery and Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle. Investigators are reviewing whether Jones is connected to additional Louis Vuitton thefts and robberies in other cities.

Woodlands Township Chairman Brad Bailey praised law enforcement’s response, saying in part: “The safety of our residents, visitors, and businesses is the number one priority … we applaud this latest act of service by our local law enforcement.”

Sheriff Wesley Doolittle also expressed gratitude to multiple partner agencies, including Harris County Constables, METRO Police, Harris County Sheriff’s Office Air Support, and the Texas Department of Public Safety Air Operations Unit, for their assistance in the pursuit and arrest.
