Suspect Apprehended After Double Homicide at Angleton Industrial Facility

On Monday, February 12, 2024, Angleton Police Department responded to a distressing situation at an industrial facility located in the 900 block of South Velasco. At around 8:20 am, an active shooter incident unfolded, leaving two victims in its wake. The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Bradley Jones, had already fled the scene by the time officers arrived.

Jones was reported to be driving a 2015 silver or blue Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pick-up truck at the time of the incident. Roads surrounding the area were closed to facilitate the investigation.

Despite efforts to save them, both victims succumbed to their injuries upon arrival at a Houston hospital. The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office joined forces with Angleton Police Department to apprehend the lone suspect in what was determined to be a double homicide.

A collaborative effort ensued, involving various law enforcement agencies such as Brazoria County Precinct 1 Constables Office, DPS, Texas Rangers, Brazoria County District Attorney’s Office, and Lake Jackson Police Department. This joint operation led to the successful location of Bradley Jones on the county beach inside a vehicle.

Jones, who was reportedly contemplating suicide, surrendered peacefully after a brief negotiation with law enforcement personnel. Both Jones and his vehicle were handed over to Angleton Police Department Detectives for further processing.

Angleton Police Chief Lupe Valdez revealed that the shooting transpired within an industrial facility known as Thermal Polymer. He disclosed that the suspect’s wife, whose identity remains undisclosed, is a former employee of the company.

Jones entered the building and held an employee at gunpoint before fatally shooting the two victims. As of now, no motive for the shooting has been established, and authorities are actively seeking surveillance footage to aid in their investigation.
