Stolen Vehicle Stop Leads to Drug, Identity Theft Arrests in West University Place

A stolen vehicle alert triggered a high-risk traffic stop last night in the 5300 block of Buffalo Speedway, resulting in the arrests of three individuals and the recovery of drugs, stolen items, and identity theft materials.

West University Place Police officers located the stolen vehicle after a Virtual Gate hit and initiated the stop, detaining the driver and two passengers.

A search of the vehicle revealed:

  • Various drugs
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • Numerous stolen items, including driver’s licenses, credit cards, and mail belonging to multiple individuals

Arrested and Charged:

  • Andrew Wilson III (Driver):
    • Arrested on outstanding warrants
    • Charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle
    • Criminal History: Failure to ID, unauthorized use of a vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, aggravated theft, credit card abuse, and theft.
  • Erika Schneider (Passenger):
    • Arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and failure to ID – fugitive.
    • Criminal History: Assault – bodily injury, theft, and possession of a controlled substance (four counts).
  • Kayla McGinnis (Passenger):
    • Arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
    • Criminal History: Fraud (three counts) and possession of a controlled substance (three counts).

Detectives are working with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service to return the stolen mail to its rightful owners and are continuing the investigation to pursue additional charges.
