Stolen Vehicle Recovered in Northwest Houston Traffic Stop, Driver Arrested

On Sunday, December 28, 2025, deputies with the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office conducted a traffic stop in the 10900 block of Grant Road in far northwest Houston.

During the stop, deputies made contact with the driver, 61-year-old James Booker. While inspecting the vehicle, deputies noticed the vehicle identification number had been tampered with. Booker admitted he was aware the VIN had been altered.

After locating the correct VIN, deputies confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen through the Houston Police Department.

Booker was arrested and transported to the Harris County Jail, where he was booked on a charge of tampering with identifying numbers. His bond was set at $100 out of County Court at Law No. 5, according to Constable Mark Herman.
