Stolen Tailgate Found for Sale on Facebook, Suspect Arrested Again in Humble
Samuel Worthy arrested

HUMBLE, Texas – What started as a routine theft report turned into an unexpected online discovery that led deputies straight to a repeat offender.

On December 31, 2025, deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s Office, Precinct 4 responded to a “Meet the Citizen” call after a Tomball resident reported his truck tailgate stolen earlier that day within a contracted patrol area.

The very next day, the victim was scrolling through Facebook Marketplace when he spotted something familiar. His stolen tailgate was listed for sale. He contacted deputies, who immediately followed up on the information.

Deputies located the suspect and recovered two stolen tailgates during the investigation. One of the tailgates was positively identified and returned to its rightful owner.

Investigators later learned the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Samuel Worthy, was already out on a $50,000 bond for Aggregate Theft related to similar offenses at the time of this incident.

Worthy was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail on a charge of felony theft. Bond and court information have not yet been set.

Deputies say the case highlights how quickly stolen property can surface online and how tips from victims can play a key role in holding repeat offenders accountable.
