Soliciting Man Arrested After Confrontation with Deputy Near Gulf Freeway

On Monday, March 17, 2025, a deputy with Precinct 2 Constable Jerry Garcia’s office encountered a man soliciting from a public roadway near the 8000 block of Park Place Boulevard and the Gulf Freeway.

The man, identified as 43-year-old Shawn Bond, had previously been warned for similar behavior. The deputy approached Bond to address the issue, which was prompted by ongoing complaints about individuals camping under the bridge and soliciting passing drivers.

During the interaction, Bond became agitated and refused to comply with the deputy’s instructions. According to authorities, Bond advanced toward the deputy in a threatening manner, prompting the deputy to take action. A brief struggle ensued before Bond was detained.

The deputy sustained minor injuries during the incident, while Bond was unharmed. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was notified, and Bond was charged with Interference with Public Duties.

Bond was transported to the Harris County Jail without further incident.
