Skeletal Remains Found on McIntosh Street Under Investigation by HPD

Houston, TX — Houston police are investigating skeletal remains discovered at 814 McIntosh Street around 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 23. Authorities are awaiting autopsy results to determine the identity, gender, and cause of death of the individual.

According to Houston Police Department Homicide Division Sergeant M. Arrington and Officer M. Castillo, officers initially responded to a report of a human skull found on the ground. The skull was placed atop items that had been set out for trash.

Witnesses told officers that a homeless woman had been seen carrying the skull and left it at the location. Police located the woman, who guided them to additional remains believed to be human.

An anthropologist from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences responded to the scene to collect the remains.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
