Shoplifters Fight Deputy During Arrest at Cypress Walmart; One Kicks Officer in Groin

On Sunday, July 20, 2025, Deputy Newisar with Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to a call about two suspected shoplifters at the Walmart located at 26270 Northwest Freeway in Cypress, Texas.
When the deputy arrived, he located two female suspects who immediately resisted arrest. One of the suspects, 19-year-old Stevionna Franklin, physically attacked the deputy and kicked him in the groin during the struggle. Both women were eventually detained without further incident.
The suspects were identified as Franklin and 20-year-old Gabrella Toler. A background check revealed that Toler had four active warrants—two from the Hempstead Police Department for Assault and two from the Waller County Sheriff’s Office for Assault on a Peace Officer and Harassment of a Public Servant.
Both women were booked into the Harris County Jail. Toler was charged with Resisting Arrest in addition to her outstanding warrants. Her bond for the new charge was set at $100. Franklin was charged with Assault on a Peace Officer, with her bond set at $5,000.
