Shooting Incident at Avalon Palms Apartment Complex in Austin Leaves Young Man Dead

On Monday, January 8, 2024, at around 7:48 p.m., the Austin Police Department (APD) responded to a shooting incident at the Avalon Palms apartment complex situated at 9300 Northgate Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers discovered 21-year-old Francisco Muntufa Miranda with an apparent gunshot wound.

Austin-Travis County EMS promptly arrived at the scene and transported Miranda to a local hospital. Unfortunately, Miranda succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists were called in to conduct a thorough investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that one or more suspects associated with this incident may be frequent visitors to the Avalon Palms apartment complex. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the suspect(s) are still at large.
