Serial Burglar Arrested in Montgomery County
Demetrius Murphy, the suspect wanted in connection with a series of burglaries in the I-45 and Rayford Sawdust area, was taken into custody on December 17, 2023. Murphy was apprehended and booked into the Montgomery County Jail on charges of Burglary of a Building.
The arrest follows a collaborative effort between Detectives from the District 2 East Precinct and local law enforcement. After identifying Murphy as the suspect in at least three local business burglaries, a warrant for his arrest was secured.
Detectives and deputies worked in tandem, alerting businesses in the area about Murphy’s wanted status. Their efforts paid off on the same day, when a vigilant store employee recognized Murphy inside their establishment. The employee promptly contacted law enforcement.
Deputies responded to the call and apprehended Murphy near the business without incident. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office emphasizes the importance of the community’s role in maintaining safety. This successful resolution underscores the cooperative efforts between law enforcement and community members to ensure Montgomery County remains a secure place to live, work, and play.
