Security Guards Arrested After Clash with Officers Outside College Station Club

On Saturday, January 25, 2025, College Station Police officers responded to an incident outside the Knight Club involving armed security guards and law enforcement.
The situation began when an officer noticed a vehicle parked in a designated fire lane directly in front of the club. The officer made contact with the vehicle’s owner, who was working as an armed security guard for the establishment. The officer instructed the guard to provide his driver’s license, advising that he would be issued a written warning for the fire lane violation.
Instead of complying, the security guard entered his vehicle, started the ignition, and rolled up the window on the officer. Despite multiple commands, the guard refused to hand over his license. A struggle ensued as the officer attempted to detain him, prompting additional officers to respond to the scene.
While officers worked to place the guard in handcuffs, a group of armed security guards from the club approached. Wearing tactical vests and armed with handguns, the guards appeared agitated. Officers instructed the group to stay back, but a female security guard disregarded the orders and struck an officer’s arm. When an officer attempted to detain her, she struck the officer in the shoulder.
Following a large police response, two suspects were taken into custody:
- Deshawn Ruffin was charged with Assault on a Public Servant, Interference with Public Duties, and Unlawful Carry of a Firearm.
- 24-year-old Kayla Danielle Watson of Houston was charged with Assault on a Public Servant, Interference with Public Duties, and Unlawful Carry of a Firearm. Bond set at $18,000.
A third security guard did not interfere in the arrests and was not detained.
College Station Police have not reported any injuries to officers or additional parties involved.
