HOUSTON, TX – Houston police have filed capital murder charges against two men in connection with the fatal shooting of a man at a taco truck on West Dyna Drive late last year.

Angel Adonis Saldivar-James, 24, is now charged with capital murder in the 232nd Criminal District Court. His charge was upgraded from murder. Oscar Armando Roland Menjevar has also been charged with capital murder in the same court. Booking photos of both suspects were released by investigators.

The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Yaddua Barraza Hernandez.

According to detectives with the Houston Police Department Homicide Division, officers responded to a shooting call at 119 West Dyna Drive around 10:45 p.m. on December 4. When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive male suffering from a gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced Hernandez dead at the scene.

Investigators determined that two suspects walked up to the business. One suspect fired a shot into the location while the second suspect took money from inside. Both suspects then fled the scene on foot.

Detectives later identified Saldivar-James as the shooter. He was arrested on December 8 and initially charged with murder. Continued investigation identified Menjevar as a second suspect involved in the robbery and shooting. Menjevar, who was already in custody on an unrelated matter, was formally charged with capital murder on January 17. At that time, murder charges against Saldivar-James were dismissed and upgraded to capital murder.

Police believe there are no additional suspects involved in the case.
