Richmond Man Arrested for Murder After Woman Found Shot in Home

Deputies with the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office (FBCSO) arrested David Wayne Pollard, 47, for murder following the death of a woman in a Richmond residence.

On February 9, 2025, at approximately 12:39 p.m., FBCSO Emergency Dispatch Center received a welfare check request at a home in the 8900 block of Rocky Knoll Lane. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a woman deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. She was later identified as Iona Pollard, 52.

David Pollard, who was present at the scene, was detained. Following an investigation, FBCSO detectives obtained an arrest warrant for murder through the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office. Pollard was booked into the Fort Bend County Jail with a bond set at $300,000.

“The loss of life is a heartbreaking tragedy that touches us all. These events leave a deep and lasting impact, not only on the families directly affected but also on the entire community,” said Sheriff Eric Fagan. “Our heartfelt condolences go out to everyone grieving this tremendous loss.”

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
