Repeat DWI Offender Sentenced to 43 Years in Prison After Sixth Conviction in Montgomery County
Felix Shawn Ramirez Jr.

Felix Shawn Ramirez, Jr., 43, has been sentenced to 43 years in prison for felony Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), marking his sixth such conviction. The sentence was handed down on Monday, July 1, 2025, by a Montgomery County jury, which also affirmed a deadly weapon finding, ensuring Ramirez will serve at least half his sentence before parole eligibility.

The conviction came on Thursday, June 27, 2025, following a seven-day trial in the 9th District Court, presided over by Judge Phil Grant. Prosecutors Luke VanNorman and Lianne Baldridge presented evidence from seven witnesses, including law enforcement, eyewitnesses, and medical professionals.

The trial revealed that on the night of the incident, Ramirez had sideswiped another vehicle, lost control of his SUV, and violently flipped it across multiple lanes of traffic, coming to rest in oncoming traffic. A Montgomery County Pct. 1 Constable Deputy quickly arrived on scene and observed signs of intoxication, including erratic behavior and mood swings.

At the hospital, Ramirez refused all sobriety testing and physically resisted a court-ordered blood draw, requiring law enforcement to restrain him. The blood alcohol concentration (BAC) result was 0.204, more than twice the legal limit in Texas of 0.08%.

Jurors were informed of Ramirez’s extensive criminal history, which included multiple prior DWI convictions and previous prison terms, highlighting a pattern of dangerous choices.

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office affirmed its commitment to holding repeat offenders accountable and protecting the community. “There is no excuse—and no tolerance—for driving while intoxicated in Montgomery County,” stated the District Attorney’s Office.
