A Montgomery County jury has sentenced a defendant to life in prison without the possibility of parole for child abuse, following a trial that included emotional testimony from the young victim. The verdict, reached on Monday, April 21, 2025, underscores the county’s commitment to protecting children and holding offenders accountable.

Prosecutors Laura Bond and Erin Delano presented the case in the 9th District Court, presided over by Judge Phil Grant. Over the course of the trial, 11 witnesses testified, including law enforcement officers from the Splendora Police Department, a forensic interviewer, medical professionals, forensic scientists, and family members. Most critically, the child victim bravely described the ongoing abuse she suffered at the hands of the defendant.

Splendora Police Department officers had swiftly responded when the abuse was reported, initiating a thorough investigation that led to the defendant’s arrest.

During the punishment phase after the guilty verdict, prosecutors presented evidence of the defendant’s prior convictions for Assault Family Violence, Terroristic Threat, and Felony Theft. The jury also heard compelling testimony from the victim and her family, detailing the profound and long-lasting emotional and psychological impact the abuse has had on her life.

Given the serious nature of the offense, the defendant faced a sentencing range of 25 years to life in prison. The jury swiftly returned a sentence of life in prison, rendering the defendant ineligible for parole under Texas law.

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office affirmed its commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of the community.
