Pedestrian Killed While Crossing Eastex Freeway at Midnight

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian at 16701 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) that occurred at approximately 12:10 a.m. on December 9, 2024.

A 43-year-old male pedestrian was attempting to cross the main lanes of the freeway when he was struck by a southbound black Ford Expedition. Paramedics pronounced the man deceased at the scene.

The 45-year-old driver of the vehicle showed no signs of impairment, was questioned by investigators, and released.

The case remains under investigation by the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division.
