Pearland Police Arrest Armed Burglary Suspect After Multi-Agency Pursuit

On August 7, 2025, Pearland Police Department responded to a burglary in progress at a residence in the 13800 block of Evening Wind Drive, Pearland, Fort Bend County.
Officers discovered that the burglary had already occurred, and the suspect, described as a white male armed with a firearm, had fled the scene driving a black Chevrolet sedan before police arrived. Using FLOCK License Plate Recognition cameras and surveillance footage, Pearland PD Crime Analysts identified the suspect vehicle.
The Special Investigations Unit tracked the vehicle through Houston and Katy with assistance from the Houston and Katy Police Departments. The pursuit ended in Katy, Fort Bend County, where the driver fled on foot. A Pearland Police K9 unit apprehended the suspect, identified as David James Burns, in a nearby wooded area.
Burns was booked into Fort Bend County Jail on charges of Burglary of a Habitation and Evading by Vehicle. Additional charges are pending.
