Pasadena Man Sentenced to Two Life Terms for Murder of Pregnant Wife After Jail Release
Alex Daniel Guajardo

Alex Daniel Guajardo, 27, has been sentenced to two life terms after pleading guilty to the brutal killing of his pregnant wife, Caitlynne Rose Infinger Guajardo, and their unborn child. Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg announced the sentence, highlighting the tragic case as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by domestic violence.

Guajardo fatally stabbed his wife on August 3, 2019, just 17 hours after his release from jail on a personal recognizance bond following an assault arrest. Caitlynne Guajardo had reported him to authorities two days prior for punching her, and she had also discovered that he tortured and killed their cat. Following his release, Guajardo returned to their Pasadena home and committed the murders.

After the killing, Guajardo was re-arrested by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. While in custody, he was found in possession of two shanks, leading to an additional charge of having a deadly weapon in a penal institution. He later pled guilty to two counts of murder and possession of a deadly weapon, receiving two life sentences plus 10 years.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Mary McFaden and Lindsey Bondurant from the Domestic Violence Division. In court, Caitlynne’s mother, Melanie Infinger, voiced her grief and frustration, stating, “Caitlynne did what she was supposed to do — she had him arrested, and the justice system failed her.”

Guajardo’s sentences will run concurrently, as the court handed down punishment intended to bring some measure of justice and peace to the victim’s family.
