One Year Later: Harris County Sheriff’s Office Still Searching for Missing Katy Woman
Missing: Amy Estevez

HOUSTON, TX – It has been just over a year since 23-year-old Amarillyz “Amy” Estevez was last seen in Katy, and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office is renewing its call for community assistance in the search for her.

On August 12, 2024, Amy’s mother, Nora Trevino, recalls her daughter stepping outside their home on North Piper Grove Drive to briefly speak with her boyfriend. Amy never came back inside. Her phone was later found left behind in the house.

“Amy was a happy girl, intelligent—she is everything to me,” said Trevino. Trevino says she refuses to give up hope.

Detective Shawn Brown, who has been investigating Amy’s case since the very beginning, emphasized that community involvement is critical.

“The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is doing our best to get closure for Amy’s mom. We really need the community’s help on this. Residents are our eyes and ears,” said Brown.

The HCSO Missing Persons Unit has carried out multiple searches over the past year, but investigators say even the smallest piece of information could be the missing link to bring Amy home. Detectives stress that tips can be shared without fear of retaliation.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the HCSO Missing Persons Unit at 713-755-7427 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).

For Amy’s family, every day without answers is heartbreaking. “Very sad,” said Trevino. “Everything reminds me of her.”
