Odessa Man Sentenced to 18 Years for Death of Adopted Daughter Forced to Jump on Trampoline

Daniel Schwarz, 48, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with the death of his adopted daughter and has been sentenced to 18 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
The case began on August 29, 2020, when law enforcement responded to a medical emergency involving an 8-year-old girl. Investigators determined that Daniel and his wife, Ashley Schwarz, had forced the child to jump on a trampoline for an extended period without food or water as punishment. The trampoline’s surface temperature was approximately 110 degrees at the time.
Ashley Schwarz was previously convicted of capital murder on May 1, 2023, and sentenced to life in prison without parole.
The Odessa Police Department and prosecutors were credited for their efforts in bringing justice in this case.
