New Caney Man Arrested in Montgomery County Road Rage Shooting

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office detectives, with the assistance of SWAT and patrol deputies, arrested a New Caney man on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, in connection with a shooting that occurred earlier this month.
The incident took place on October 9 near the 21200 block of Valley Ranch Parkway and stemmed from a road rage confrontation. An 18-year-old victim was shot, while three other occupants of the vehicle were uninjured.
Investigators with the MCSO Major Crimes Unit identified Austen James Ringo of New Caney as the suspect. Deputies executed a pre-dawn search warrant on October 29 in the 21000 block of Cherry Street, taking Ringo into custody without incident.
Ringo has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Possession of a Controlled Substance. He is currently being held at the Montgomery County Jail with no bond.
