Murder Suspect Captured in Louisiana After La Marque Shooting

LA MARQUE, Texas — A 28-year-old man has been arrested in Louisiana in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred January in La Marque.
On Saturday, January 31, 2026, at approximately 2:45 a.m., officers with the La Marque Police Department responded to the 100 block of Oak Street following reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they located Marques Rosendahl suffering from a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced deceased.
After what authorities described as an extensive investigation involving multiple interviews, detectives identified Taryke Jacobs as the suspect. Probable cause was established, and Jacobs was charged with Murder.
Investigators also determined Jacobs had been involved in a separate, unrelated incident at The Fish Place, located at 925 FM 1765, prior to the shooting.
Jacobs now faces the following charges:
- Murder (First Degree) – No Bond
- Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Second Degree) – No Bond
- Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon (Class A Misdemeanor) – $7,500 Bond
On February 9, 2026, Jacobs was arrested in Louisiana by the U.S. Marshals Service. He was transported to a local parish jail and will be extradited to the Galveston County Jail.
La Marque Police expressed gratitude for the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force and the U.S. Marshals Service Western District of Louisiana – Lake Charles.

Authorities also extended condolences to the family and loved ones of Marques Rosendahl as the investigation continues.
