Margarito Alcantar

On Monday, May 17, 2021, at approximately 11:35 p.m., Harris County Sheriff’s Deputies and Cy-Fair EMS responded to a shooting in the 17100 block of Hilton Hollow Drive in the Westminster Village Subdivision. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a dark gray Dodge Challenger abandoned in the front yard of a residence. The vehicle, which had multiple bullet holes on the passenger side, had left the roadway and struck a tree.

The driver, identified as 29-year-old Eddie Clark, managed to exit the vehicle and flee a short distance before collapsing. Cy-Fair EMS determined Clark had been shot and transported him by Life Flight to Hermann Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Following the investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide and Crime Scene Units, four individuals were charged with murder in connection with Clark’s death: Joe Argueta (19), Luis Argueta (45), Margarito Alcantar (29), and Florinda Argueta (39).

On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, nearly four years after the homicide, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT), assisted by the Texas Department of Public Safety in Pharr, Texas, and the Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division, arrested Margarito Alcantar after a brief vehicle pursuit. Alcantar is currently being held in the Hidalgo County Jail on charges of murder, four counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer, evading arrest with a vehicle, and child endangerment.

Luis Argueta remains wanted for murder. Authorities urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit at 713-274-9100 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
