Motorcyclist Killed After Crashing Into Pickup On Northwest Freeway Service Road

HOUSTON, Texas – A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday night following a collision with a pickup truck along the Northwest Freeway westbound service road in northwest Harris County.

According to investigators, the crash happened on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, in the 28500 block of the Northwest Freeway westbound service road. David Tarnowski was driving a Ford F-150 and was stopped in traffic facing west in the number three lane.

At the same time, an unidentified adult male was riding a Honda CRF-50 motorcycle westbound in the same lane and was unlawfully passing stopped traffic on the right. As traffic began to move, Tarnowski briefly drove forward and then made a right turn to travel south into a private driveway.

Investigators say the motorcycle attempted to pass the Ford on the right in an unsafe manner. The Honda fell onto its right side and slid west before striking the right side and undercarriage of the Ford. The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike prior to impact and continued sliding across the lane before striking the truck’s undercarriage.

The Ford traveled approximately 26 feet into the private driveway before coming to a controlled stop. The motorcyclist was found at the scene with no signs of life due to injuries sustained in the crash.

Tarnowski remained at the scene and showed no signs of intoxication, according to authorities.

The crash remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division.
