Mother Finds 12-Year-Old Son Unresponsive at Katy Apartment; Investigation Ongoing Into Death

Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call for service at an apartment complex located at 21919 Clay Rd, near the Grand Parkway (SH-99) in Katy, Texas, early Tuesday morning, November 26, 2024. At approximately 3:13 a.m., deputies arrived to find a 12-year-old child unresponsive inside a unit.

The child’s mother called 911 after finding her son non-responsive in a chair upon waking up around 3 a.m. She immediately began life-saving measures until EMS arrived and transported the child to Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

HCSO Captain Paul Bruce confirmed that there are no signs of foul play. As part of standard protocol, the HCSO Homicide Division responded to the scene, and the Harris County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy and toxicology tests to determine the cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.
