Mother and Daughter Arrested After Domestic Assault Call Escalates in El Paso

Deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic assault in progress on Thursday, November 20th, in the 8700 block of Kingsway in Canutillo, TX. When they arrived, they spoke with the people involved and confirmed that an assault had taken place.

As deputies moved to arrest 32-year-old Mayra Salinas, the situation escalated. Her mother, 64-year-old Marisela Valenzuela, stepped between Salinas and the deputies, blocking the arrest. Valenzuela then assaulted the deputies as they tried to handcuff her daughter.

Both women were taken into custody. Valenzuela was charged with assault on a peace officer and interference with public duties, with her bond set at 3,500 dollars. Salinas was charged with assault family violence and resisting arrest, also with a bond set at 3,500 dollars.
