Montgomery County Deputies Arrests Three Suspects in Bank-Related Theft Incident

MONTGOMERY COUNTY — On Wednesday, December 3, law enforcement officers from the Montgomery County Pct. 4 Constable’s Office, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Texas DPS, Splendora Police Department, and New Caney ISD Police responded to a “jugging” incident near the Valley Ranch area.

Authorities said a 911 caller reported that a black male suspect had followed him from a local bank, broke into his vehicle, and stole cash after he arrived at an address. The crime pattern, known as “jugging,” involves targeting individuals leaving financial institutions and committing theft or robbery once the victim stops elsewhere.

Responding units located the suspect vehicle and initiated a pursuit that ended behind Citizens’ Bank near the Valley Ranch neighborhood. The suspect fled on foot into a nearby wooded area. Montgomery County Pct. 4’s Drone Team and K9 units, along with a Sheriff’s Office drone, assisted in the search. The suspect was located exiting the woods and taken into custody by law enforcement.

Additional investigation led to the arrest of three other individuals who allegedly attempted to assist the fleeing suspect:

  • Anya Washington, 21, of Houston – charged with Attempted Hindering Apprehension (Class A misdemeanor), drug-related charges, and several Class C warrants.
  • Emmit Motton, 19, of Houston – charged with Attempted Hindering Apprehension (Class A misdemeanor).
  • Walter Shepherd, 17, of Houston – charged with Attempted Hindering Apprehension (Class A misdemeanor) and drug-related charges.

Constable Kenneth “Rowdy” Hayden praised the coordinated law enforcement response, noting that the agencies and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office work together to address crime quickly and hold offenders accountable.

All individuals arrested or charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
