Midland Woman Arrested for Child Abuse and Federal Probation Violation in Custody Dispute
Jaqueline Pruneda Hinojos

On October 22, 2024, deputies from the Midland County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence on the 3700 block of W. County Road 138 in Midland, TX, following a report of a child custody dispute. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with a juvenile who expressed fear of returning home due to alleged mistreatment. Family members present corroborated these concerns, alleging that the child’s mother, 33-year-old Jaqueline Pruneda Hinojos, had engaged in physical abuse.

After assessing the statements and evidence, investigators from the Midland County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID) determined that there was sufficient probable cause to arrest Hinojos on a charge of Injury to a Child, a serious offense under Texas law. During the booking process, authorities discovered that Hinojos also had an outstanding federal warrant related to a Violation of Federal Probation. The nature of this federal violation was not disclosed.

Hinojos was subsequently transported to the Midland County Central Detention Center, where she remains in custody. Her bond has been set at $100,000; however, a federal hold has been placed on her by the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), meaning she will remain detained without the possibility of bonding out.
