Midland Police Arrest Suspect After Stabbing, Hostage Report

MIDLAND, Texas — A man was taken into custody Thursday morning following a stabbing and report of a possible hostage situation, according to Midland Police.
Officers responded around 7:42 a.m. on March 26, 2026, to the area of Lidden Avenue and Big Spring Street after receiving a report of a male bleeding heavily. The victim was later located at Hart Avenue and Main Street.
Police said the man had been stabbed at a residence in the 700 block of Boyd Avenue. He also reported that a woman may have been held hostage at the location.
Officers later located the woman unharmed near Big Spring Street and Golf Course Road. The injured man was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Investigators identified the suspect as 35-year-old Cody Ryan Booth. Officers established a perimeter around the Boyd Avenue residence and attempted to make contact. Booth initially refused to come out but later exited the home and was taken into custody.
Police said Booth was arrested on multiple outstanding warrants. The stabbing victim declined to pursue charges in the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
