HOUSTON, Texas — A welfare check in northwest Houston led to a foot pursuit and the arrest of a man found with a firearm and suspected narcotics, authorities said.

Harris County deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded Tuesday, March 24, 2026, to the 7900 block of Ouray Drive in the Stoneyway Village neighborhood after reports of a disoriented man inside a vehicle.

Upon arrival, deputies identified the man as 36-year-old Cameron Kevin Baldwin and determined he was in possession of a handgun. As deputies attempted to safely remove the weapon, Baldwin fled on foot.

Deputies initiated a pursuit, and with assistance from Texas Department of Public Safety Air Support, Baldwin was located and taken into custody. He was also treated on-scene for injuries sustained while evading on foot.

During the investigation, authorities said Baldwin was found to be in possession of approximately 0.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine and had an active warrant for possession of a controlled substance.

Baldwin was booked into the Harris County Jail and charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1/1-B between 1 and 4 grams, felon in possession of a firearm, and the outstanding warrant. His total bond was set at $125,000 by the 486th District Court.
